ADA Accessibility

All MetroBus vehicles are equipped with lifts or ramps and most have kneelers to assist passengers who cannot use or have difficulty using the stairs. Priority seating is available for passengers who have difficulty standing while the vehicle is in motion. For customers using wheelchairs or scooters, there are two reserved seating areas, which are equipped with securement devices to help ensure a safe and secure ride.

All MetroLink light rail station platforms are accessible via ramps or elevators. Each MetroLink vehicle is equipped with four priority seating locations for customers with disabilities. The floors of the light rail vehicles are level with the station platforms to ensure ease of entry and exit. Occasionally elevators and/or escalators may be out of service due to routine maintenance; click here (link to list/query of out of service elevator & escalators) for an up-to-date status on which unit(s), if any, are not operating or call 314-982-1498 from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., Monday-Friday (after hours, call Security at 314-289-6872).

Metro Call-A-Ride provides ADA paratransit public transportation curb-to-curb service in Missouri (called Metro Call-A-Ride Plus) for people with physical, visual, or cognitive disabilities who are functionally unable to independently use bus or light rail service, due to their disability or certain other circumstances.

Based on ADA requirements, paratransit services are designed to provide equivalent access to areas served by the fixed-route services. Accordingly, service is only available for eligible individuals whose trips begin and end within ¾ of a mile of a bus route or light-rail station during the hours of operation of the bus route or light-rail service. ADA paratransit services are not required at locations or times that there is no fixed-route service.

Eligibility for ADA paratransit services is in accordance with ADA guidelines, and is determined not by a medical decision, but rather by an applicant's functional ability to use the fixed route bus or light rail system.

To request an application for a Metro Call-A-Ride Plus ID Card please call 314-982-1510 or TTY 314-982-1509. Upon being determined eligible to participate in Metro Call-A-Ride Plus, Metro will provide specific information regarding city and county-area service, fare, and operating hours. You will also be provided telephone numbers to make reservations and cancellations.

ADA-eligible residents of St. Clair County may utilize paratransit service from Alternative Transportation Services (ATS), funded by St. Clair County Transit.
